Forest Ravine Map & Modular Cave Asset - [80 x 100]

Someone whistled from up ahead. The lead wagon rumbled to a stop, and a few guardsmen hopped to the muddy track with a wet thud.

"What ho?", shouted the driver, cupping his hands and glancing along the path impatiently.

One of the guardsmen turned toward the driver, gesturing down the road, "There's a commotion up by this ravine. Hold fast and we'll return shortly."

The four guardsmen shouldered their gear and lumbered along the path toward the tree line, where the driver could see a few figures gesturing down a sloped and stony track. A large road suddenly boomed across the wood, causing a flock of birds to burst out of a neighboring tree as they look flight. The guardsmen all turned and disappeared down the track with raised swords.

"Hrmph. If that's a "commotion", I'm the Lord Reagent. Come'n, Fritz, let's get up the road a ways, they can always catch up, hrmm?", the driver suggested, as he flipped the reins and urged his brown horse forward along the track."

This is a Random Forest Encounter with a fun twist. As with most of my random encounter maps, this one features a variety of elevation, cover, level changes, difficult terrain, water, and a few different locations (i.e. cave mouths) that can link to other maps.

For this map, I created cave assets that can easily be layered over the existing map when your party decides to enter, making it easy to slot in caves to almost any cave you may happen across of a particular dimension. This not only can keep you from having to switch maps frequently, but also gives you a lot of variety and flexibility in these random encounters.
